French Seam

The French Seam is predominately used on finer and lightweight fabrics when overlock/serger isn’t appropriate. It can also be used on medium weight fabrics when there is a long seam and overlocked/serged seams are not desired. French seams are not appropriate for curved areas of the garment, such as armholes. It is important to sew both stitch lines in the same direction to maintain seam integrity, otherwise you may get roping or pulling in different directions. These courses are designed for learners planning to go into the fashion/apparel production environment. Purchase the patterns for Level 1 tutorials here: Level 1 Sewing Patterns
